The company I’m working at, Playlouder MSP, is looking for a new Javascript developer to join the team. We’re a young and dynamic London-based team working on an online social platform for listening to and sharing music, including unlimited legal access to music for a fixed monthly fee.

Excerpt of the job ad:

Media Service Provider has been working with ISPs and the music industry to offer ISP customers groundbreaking levels of access to digital music—and a groundbreaking user interface to match.

Tasked with delivering an innovative, browser-based music application to a large audience, it’s critical that we are able to deliver a reliable, responsive and fun user experience across a range of modern browsers (no IE6!). As a key addition to our development team, you’ll be central to this effort.

The role would suit a Javascript guru who enjoys the challenge of developing a real thick-client application in the browser. It may equally suit a GUI application developer with solid experience on other platforms (Cocoa, C#, Java, Flash, GTK, …) who’s confident in their ability to pick up the necessary Javascript skills.

So if you’re looking for a job in the UK and interested in music and UI development, have a look at the full job ad for all the details!

Just opened this new blog at bytes.inso.cc to host ramblings and thoughts and tips about computer-related stuff. The idea is to stop scaring my grandfather, who does read my regular blog, and start posting more regularly about XMMS2, Git, mindmaps, the power of syndication feeds, crappy/genius UIs, Information Architecture, Human-Information Interaction and other such trendy buzzwords.

And perhaps it will encourage others to blog more regularly on the XMMS2 Planet!

So, stay tuned…

Granted, automatic translation from Japanese to English is a hard job, but sometimes it yields true gems:

The many user is in the midst of connecting. At present the server to be packed, we apply annoyance. It is the number of hands, but putting in place time, accessing for the second time, it can receive, the fish we ask.

I see.

Registering online (tickets, concerts, etc) is major fun when all the forms are in Japanese. The important information is usually displayed as images on buttons, which you have no way to translate. Also, you better know how to write your name in Japanese katakanas… In my case: セヴェイ セバスチャン (sebei sebasuchan)!

If you want to train your Japanese, the original text was:

多数のユーザーが接続中です。 ただ今サーバーが混み合いご迷惑をおかけしております。お手数ですが時間をおいて再度アクセスしていただけますようお願いいたします。

Now hopefully, I did not order pink skirts and successfully bought my ticket for the incredible Summer Sonic Festival!
